PLANS FOR THE MASTER BEDROOM

Autumn really arrived this week. The weather had been so nice and warm until last week when it changed completely and we were hit with rain and wind and cold! I don't love the cold temperatures but I love comfort food, falling leaves and layers. I'm super big on cozy so I love this time of year for the excuse to cuddle up under blankets with cocoa and a hot water bottle. Our Bedroom will likely be the last room in the house that we start to update but this weather has me dreaming of a warm and cozy retreat.

When we moved in the room looked like this

We stripped the wall paper, removed the picture rail and sconces and took up the carpets - Kindface was totally the wallpaper stripping don

but the plaster under that wallpaper was shot - although the plaster in the rest of the house wasn't in great shape either, in here it was combined with a damaged ceiling and textured paint covering the top portion of the walls. So we're planning to get the walls and ceiling skimmed with new plaster - and that's going to set us back around £500 (we considered doing it ourselves but decided it was too big and skilled a job for us to tackle) - so we've been holding off until we can have that done by a trades-person and hopefully skip the phase one stage and go right to choosing furniture and finishes that we want to keep long term.

Oh gosh! It's a joke I know! I think if we had a garage or other storage space this is what it would be looking like, but we don't...so this is what our master bedroom looks like...so far we've been sleeping in the guest room and using in here as a storage room - in addition to our clothes it's holding all the stuff that will one day live somewhere else - tools, scrap wood and painting supplies (that will one day move to the loft or a tool shed), craft supplies (that will one day move to the spare room), spare bedding and piles of stuff that we need to sell or donate. But one day we're hoping for something like this:

wardrobe door - faux fur blanket (no longer available - similar here) - headboard - light - dresser

We want the room to feel grown up but still cozy and inviting. I'm imagining going all out on the soft neutrals but with lots of modern lines and luxe finishes and textures. I'd love something similar to Benjamin Moore Creamy White for the walls and crisp white curtains and linens along with wood tones and lots of warm grey accents. All we need in here is a bed and a ton of storage - for clothes, shoes, bags, coats, exercise equipment, make up and hair products - so we're planning on building a big wall to wall wardrobe and bringing in a dresser. I've always loved beds in front of windows so we'd love to set the room up like this or this.

Although it's been really nice sleeping in the guest room - it's all bed and white walls and fairy lights - I cant wait to create a super organised closet system that will make getting dressed and putting away laundry so much easier and a space for me and Kindface to retreat to and living the dream on dark winter evenings snuggled up with a box set, pjs and slippers!
